Man Utd fans fume after learning their transfer budget for this summer

Man Utd fans are not happy.

Manchester United fans vented their anger on social media after a report detailed how much money the club has to spend on transfers this summer.

Erik ten Hag guided his squad to third place in the Premier League last season, and United also won the Carabao Cup and reached the final of the FA Cup.

It was a successful first season in charge for the Dutchman, but there were still plenty of challenging moments. United lost 7-0 to Liverpool in March, were knocked out of the Europa League after a 4-0 defeat to Sevilla in the quarter-finals, and conceded four first half goals to Brentford in the second week of the Premier League campaign.

Therefore, despite the positive start to life at Old Trafford, Ten Hag is looking to improve his squad further this summer.

However, little progress appears to have been made on that front so far. United attempted to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea, seeing three bids rejected, but pulled out of negotiations due to the Blues' asking price.

But Gazzetta dello Sport claim the club are close to landing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, with Inter's sporting director said to be currently in Manchester to discuss a deal.

Signing the Cameroon international, however, would take a significant sum of money away from United's overall budget, it has been revealed.

Man Utd fans react to transfer budget

The Athletic reported last month that Ten Hag will have £100 million to spend this summer, with Sky Sports re-iterating United's stance earlier this week.

The club projected record revenues in their third quarter financial results on Tuesday, as per the Manchester Evening News, but sources told the outlet that the results would have no affect on transfers.

It is claimed that cash is there for Ten Hag to spend, but Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations limit how much can be spent. Extra funds can be raised by player sales, however.

Fans took to social media to have their say on United's budget.

One fan exclaimed: "We're doomed."

Another added: "Manchester United are becoming Arsenal and Arsenal are becoming Manchester United. Club is now a joke."

A third fan agreed: "It's official, we are a joke now."

And another wrote: "Might as well write next season off already."

However, one fan chose to remain optimistic, predicting: "We will finish ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea."
