Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio has reportedly been told he can leave the club amid rumoured interest from Manchester United.
United have turned their attentions elsewhere after failing to secure the signing of Cody Gakpo from PSV, whilst any move for Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix also looks to be in doubt.
Although they are leading the race for the 23-year-old, alongside Arsenal, it is claimed by The Athletic that Atletico want a total fee of €21 million, including wages, to allow Felix to leave on loan until the end of the season.

But United have also been linked with a cut-price move for Asensio, whose current Real contract expires in the summer.
The Spain international hasn't had the game time he would have ideally wished for this season, despite starting four of the last six matches.
Now, it appears Los Blancos are happy to allow the 28-year-old to leave.
Asensio to Man Utd?
According to Spanish outlet AS, Real will listen to offers for five of their first-team players, with Asensio one of the key names listed. Eden Hazard, Alvaro Odriozola, Mariano Diaz and Dani Ceballos could also depart in January.

It is claimed that the 28-year-old does want to stay at the Bernabeu and fight to reclaim his position on the right side of midfield, which has often been occupied by Federico Valverde this season.
However, Real will consider selling the player if they receive an acceptable bid.
And Sport claim that United want to sign the player before he becomes a free agent in the summer, with a move potentially being completed in a matter of days. At a reported fee of €15-20m, Asensio could be the perfect option for United, even though they are initially only targeting loan deals on the market.
Should the Spain international, who scored once at the World Cup, join United, he would offer a versatile option for Erik ten Hag's squad. He can play on either side of the forward line, and in a false nine role if required.
