Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been offered the chance to sign France international Adrien Rabiot, according to a fresh report.

Last night Argentina beat France on penalties to win their first World Cup since 1986 when Deigo Maradona dragged La Albiceleste to glory.

This time it was all about Lionel Messi, who emulated his predecessor in leading his nation to the World Cup while plugging the burning gap on his CV by winning the last piece of silverware that had alluded him.

However, France played their part in what was one of the greatest World Cup finals in history. A despondent Les Bleus came back from two goals down at the end of normal time thanks to the brilliance of Kylian Mbappe.

When Messi put Argentina 3-2 in extra time, the 23-year-old France star equalised from the spot to net the first World Cup final hat-trick since Geoff Hurst’s treble for England in 1966.

While France’s resurgence was very much led by Mbappe, Randal Kolo Muani, Marcus Thuram and Eduardo Camavinga, Rabiot also featured throughout, having overcome illness to start the match.

In this tournament, the 27-year-old was a star in France’s midfield in the absence of Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante. Indeed, the Juventus man’s return to form has seen him linked with a January move from Turin.

Rabiot to Man Utd?

According to 90min Rabiot has been offered to Barcelona and a host of Premier League clubs ahead of the expiry of his contract.

One team said to be exploring the possibility of signing the France star is United, who retain an interest despite a summer move for the midfielder having fallen through. Rabiot had been in negotiations with United last summer after Juventus agreed to a reported £15.2million transfer fee.

However, the proposed move subsequently collapsed over Rabiot’s hefty wage demands.

While reports in Italy claim that Rabiot wants a €10million (£8.7million) per annum contract from his next club, 90min claims the player would take less for the right project.

Other Premier League clubs said to be in regular contact with the player’s representatives are Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Rabiot to England?

Rabiot has admitted that he is keen to move to a Premier League club.

Speaking to the media before Les Bleus’ quarter-final victory against England Rabiot said: "I have always said that I’d like to play in England in my career. I still have that desire. I’d like to evolve in the Premier League.”
