Manchester United Remove Mason Greenwood Merchandise Following Striker's Arrest

Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault and will not train or play for United 'until further notice.'

Manchester United have removed all Mason Greenwood merchandise from their website, following the striker's arrest on Sunday.

The striker was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault on the weekend, after a woman uploaded pictures and video onto social media accusing the 20-year-old.

United brought out a statement following the original accusations and have since confirmed that he won't train with the team, or play for them, 'until further notice.'

The club have stopped short of suspending the player but they have now taken all of his merchandise down from their official website.

Searching for the player's name on the online shop brings up the message "Sorry, your search for mason greenwood did not match any products," whilst he has also been removed from the 'Shop By Player' section.

Whilst United's kits are made by Adidas, the player is sponsored by Nike, and the American company have said they are 'deeply concerned' with the situation.

"We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation," a spokesman for the company told the Athletic.

Whilst the club have made two statements over the situation, the second confirming he would no longer play or train, the player is yet to make comment.

The 20-year-old youth academy product has so far started 16 games in the Premier League this season, with the striker scoring five times so far.

Club fans have supported the move to stop the player being involved in the team, with the Manchester United Supporters Trust saying, "The club has now confirmed that Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice.

"MUST fully support the decision of the club in this regard.”
