Neymar hails Manchester United star as "world's best" after World Cup performance

What a strike it was.

Brazil national star and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has branded Manchester United's Casemiro as the "world's best" midfielder after he scored Brazil's winning goal against Switzerland.

Casemiro left it late before smashing Swiss hearts with a sliced strike past Yann Sommer to seal Brazil's place in the round of 16.

The former Real Madrid defender signed for Man United in the summer in what was a deal nearly worth £70million.

Many doubted his reasoning for joining the club at 30 years old but he has silenced his critics and is arguably United's player of the season so far.

What did Neymar say about the midfielder?

Neymar took to Twitter to praise his teammate and wrote: 'Casemiro has been the best midfielder in the world for a long time.'

The PSG forward missed Brazil's game against Switzerland through an ankle injury in the opener.

He was pictured in tears on the bench and after the match he shared images of his swollen ankle on Instagram.

It was hoped that the injury would only rule him out of the one group game, however, it is now being reported by the Mirror that he is suffering from an illness which could see him sidelined for the final group match against Cameroon on Friday.

Brazil are through to the round of 16 and if they top the group, they will face the Group H runner-up. That could be any of Ghana, South Korea or Uruguay.
