Manchester United’s home kit for the 2022-23 season appears to have been leaked.

There is much uncertainty at Old Trafford as the current campaign approaches its conclusion.

The Premier League giants are currently fourth in the table, just a place and a point ahead of bitter rivals Liverpool, albeit with a game in hand. Indeed, Erik ten Hag's summer plans will be greatly compromised should the club fail to claim an all important Champions League place at end of the season.

Moreover, behind the scenes the club's takeover saga continues to linger.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim are currently battling to purchase the club from the Glazers, and are awaiting the Americans' decision regarding a preferred buyer.

While next season's plans appear unresolved at present, the club's kit for the new campaign appears to have been leaked online.

Man Utd kit leak

The new home shirt, designed by Adidas, will allegedly pay tribute to the city of Manchester.

According to Footy Headlines, the design combines a classic red main colour, named "Team Collage Red", with black logos and Adidas stripes.

Indeed, it is the first time since the 2019-2020 season that Adidas have used black as the kit’s secondary colour.

Furthermore, in terms of design, the leaked kit features a Lancashire Rose geometric pattern on the front - a symbol that represents Lancashire County, in north-west England, where the city of Manchester resides.

Indeed, the Rose, which has been used as the county’s emblem for centuries is still in use today in various forms, such as on the county flag and the badges of Lancashire's cricket team.

Elsewhere, the home kit will reportedly use design elements from a nearby bridge - possibly the Trafford Road Bridge - for the collar.

The Trafford Bridge was built in 1896 and acted as an important transportation route during the industrial revolution.

The bridge, which spans the Manchester Ship Canal, once connected the Trafford Park industrial estate to the rest of the city. It remains an important landmark in the city and is used by both pedestrians and vehicles to this day.

The Adidas Man United 2023-2024 home shirt will be available to buy from July 2023.
