Fabrizio Romano claimed Manchester United and Liverpool were among the clubs that had sent scouts to watch Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo.

United and Liverpool occupy fourth and fifth respectively in the Premier League table with the race for Champions League qualification likely to go down to the wire.

However the rival club's appear to be in competition away from the pitch as well.

According to Romano, United, Liverpool and Newcastle United scouts travelled to France to watch Todibo play in Nice's 2-1 victory over Rennes on Saturday.

Since graduating from the Toulouse academy in 2018, the centre-back has featured in four league across Europe, having had spells at Barcelona, Schalke, Benfica and now Nice.

Indeed, the 23-year-old has impressed this term, having featured in 30 of Nice's 33 Ligue 1 matches so far, and his performances have piqued the interest of some of the Premier League's richest clubs.

Man Utd and Liverpool interested in Todibo

Fabrizio Romano claimed that Man Utd, Liverpool and Newcastle have all registered an interest in Todibo, who would cost some €45million (£39million).

The transfer guru tweeted: "Understand Newcastle, Manchester Utd and Liverpool scouts were in attendance at Nice-Rennes game to monitor Jean Clair Todibo.

"French centre back could get top club move in the summer — with price tag understood to be around €45million."

Romano added on his YouTube channel: “In the Premier League we have to keep an eye on Jean-Clair Todibo. The centre-back from Nice, former Barcelona player is doing very well.

"In the last game there were three Premier League teams on a mission to follow Todibo - Newcastle, Manchester United and Liverpool. All three of these clubs are monitoring the player and keeping an eye on the player as a potential option for the summer."
