Fans all saying same thing about Man United after Wilfried Gnonto scores Leeds opener inside 60 seconds

Fans all saying same thing about Man United after Wilfried Gnonto scores Leeds opener inside 60 seconds

It's not the ideal start for Manchester United in the first of their double-header Premier League matches against rivals Leeds.

Furious Manchester United fans are not happy with Diogo Dalot after Leeds forward Wilfried Gnonto scored inside 60 seconds at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Dalot made his return to the United starting XI after Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag confirmed Aaron Wan-Bissaka was ruled out of action due to illness.

The 23-year-old Portuguese right-back had been sidelined with a hamstring injury after representing Portugal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Dalot’s absence had allowed Wan-Bissaka, who was linked with a move away from Old Trafford, to re-establish himself in the United XI under Ten Hag.

However, the Portugal defender endured a nightmare start upon his return to the United line-up after Leeds stunned the Red Devils inside the opening minute.

Pascal Struijk won the ball off Bruno Fernandes before he found Gnonto, with the Italy international drilling a stunning strike past David de Gea from 20 yards out.

United fans were quick to blame both Fernandes and Dalot for Gnonto’s opener, with Dalot ruthlessly blasted on social media.

“First minute of Dalot playing football for us again and we concede,” one fan said.

Someone else commented: “All the reasons why I don’t like Dalot [have] been on display in 10 minutes.”

“Dalot against Gnonto is a bad combination,” another Twitter user added.

While a fourth wrote: “Dalot cannot do what Wan-Bissaka does casually.”

A fifth fan tweeted: “If we play Dalot against [Barcelona], we’re done.”

Leeds, who will face United in back-to-back Premier League matches, are 1-0 up against the Red Devils going into half-time at Old Trafford.
