Ten Hag given boost as Man Utd to make crucial appointment, it will have big implications on the transfer window

It will have big implications for the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are set to appoint Matt Hargreaves, an Adidas executive, to lead their football negotiations, according to a fresh report.

The Old Trafford club have enjoyed a successful first season under the management of Erik ten Hag.

In the Premier League, United are entrenched in a top-four position, while they have also in the last eight of both the FA Cup and Europa League.

Meanwhile, in February Ten Hag’s men claimed the Carabao Cup, to end the club’s longest trophy drought in 40 years.

Much of the improvement at Old Trafford has been down to the summer recruitment, with the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro having had an immense impact on the club’s fortunes.

However, heading into the summer window United will be looking to sign a new striker to adequately replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who acrimoniously departed the club in November.

And it appears the club are making changes to the recruitment structure to help sign a striker.

Man Utd to appoint football negotiations chief

According to the Athletic, United are set to appoint Hargreaves to lead their football negotiations.

The Adidas executive, who is a United fan and has a legal background, will replace Matt Judge, who last year left his role as director of football negotiations.

Hargreaves is reportedly working a notice period as a marketing director for the sports manufacturer but is set to start at United before the start of the summer window.

His impending arrival will be a boost to Ten Hag, as he plots his summer transfer plans and looks to tie the likes of Marcus Rashford and David De Gea to new deals.

United have reportedly been aware of Hargreaves since their kit deal with Adidas, which has run since 2015.
