Man United identify Wan-Bissaka replacement following ten Hag's career over hint

Man United have reportedly identified a replacement for right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's future at Man United was thrown into question after comments made by Erik ten Hag after the Red Devils' 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday - and the club has reportedly identified a replacement.

Wan-Bissaka has not started a single game for Ten Hag's side this season, with injury ruling him out of a large portion of the campaign.

His gametime has been restricted to an eight-minute cameo in United's 2-1 win over Liverpool in August.

Wan-Bissaka was not in the squad for Sunday's win over the Hammers. Ten Hag told the media that he was training in preparation for the match, with a late decision to be taken over his fitness.

After the game, Ten Hag was asked by Sky Sports about Diogo Dalot, who has started every game this season in Wan-Bissaka's absence.

The Dutchman said: "I'm really happy with the development of Diogo. In possession, he's really good, he has the breath to go up and down, so the development is really good.

"But I have to mention, a club as Manchester United need two good full-backs, because we have a lot of games to cover."

The manager's comments appear to hint that United may look into the transfer market in the upcoming windows, instead of utilising Wan-Bissaka on a more regular basis.

And, if the former Crystal Palace defender is to depart, it seems they have identified a replacement.

Man United target Max Aarons

According to Football Insider, Man United are set to target Norwich right-back Max Aarons in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old Canaries academy product was introduced to the first-team by Daniel Farke, and allowed to flourish in an attacking role.

His development has slowed in recent seasons, with Norwich promoted from the Championship before being relegated from the Premier League in consecutive seasons on two separate occasions.

Despite a strong start to the Championship season under Dean Smith, the Canaries have won just one of their last seven games, and are five points behind the automatic promotion places.

But Aarons is still admired by top European clubs, and Football Insider claim that United are interested in signing the England youth international.

He would reportedly be available for £15 million - suggesting that this could be the year Norwich decide to part company with one of their most valuable assets.

Should Aarons join United, he would provide competition for Dalot in the right-back position. But with the Portuguese star out of contract in the summer, the Norwich defender could be in pole position to step up should Dalot decide to leave Old Trafford.
