Lisandro Martinez’s elite mentality has been confirmed after footage of the Argentine explaining his defending emerged.

Martinez joined United from Ajax in the summer for a reported fee of £56.7 million.

Ever since his arrival, many have questioned his height and whether he will be able to cope with the physicality of the Premier League.

It is safe to say that Martinez has made all his critics eat their words after putting in some stellar performances for Erik ten Hag’s team.

Now, a video of him talking about his defending has emerged and it demonstrates his elite mentality. You can watch it below.

The Argentina World Cup-winning defender was captured saying: “Maybe you can pass me, but not with the ball.

“I will always try to be strong and be calm. If you move there I will follow you, I will do anything.

“You will not pass me!”

Fans were quick to react to Martinez’s quotes.

One said: “My CB, You will not pass me!”

Another commented: “Best defender in the world.”

A third fan added: “He deserves the captain’s armband next season.”

Someone else wrote: “That is the right mindset, what a player.”

Whilst a fifth said: “Great advice for any future centre-backs.”

After playing a key role in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, Martinez spoke about his joy of getting his hands on his first trophy as a Red Devil.

He said: “What a big feeling, and to win my first trophy here at Manchester United, it means a lot to me, but also for the group.

“I think we deserve it and we worked very hard for this. You can also see on the pitch the connection with the people and the fans. I am so happy to be honest.

“The first one means a lot. I am really happy to be honest to win this trophy.”

How many trophies will United win this season? Only time will tell.
