Manchester United fans have been described as 'spoilt brats' and told to get a 'grip, get in real life' by Darren Ambrose.

Erik ten Hag's team slumped to their second straight Premier League defeat of the new season, losing 4-0 to Brentford last weekend.

Protests are planned for the club's home fixture against Liverpool, with fans planning to exit Old Trafford in disagreement with the Glazers.

But talkSPORT pundit Ambrose has said fans must take their share of blame, stating the abuse directed at the players is part of their current decline.

"United supporters need to get a grip, get in real life," he exclaimed.

"You’re dealing with what other football clubs deal with week in week out.

"Since the Premier League started, it’s now the 30th anniversary, Manchester United have won 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups, two Champions Leagues and one Europa League.

"As a Spurs supporter, we’ve won two League Cups and got into the Champions League final once, that’s why I say they’re spoilt brats, you haven’t won a title since 2012/13, boohoo."

Ambrose added: "This is the time that Manchester United need the supporters, they don’t need people booing, they don’t need social media putting out that Harry Maguire stood on the wrong side of the tunnel, no wonder they’re so scared going out there, no wonder Manchester United don’t win anything, the support base is just spoilt with winning so many titles.

"I understand the passion, I understand that’s the reason why, but this is football now, you’re in a transition and you need to build back up.

"You’ve spent an awful lot of money, you can argue it’s the ownership, you can argue it’s the players, I don’t disagree with either of those, something needs to change at the top, the players unfortunately are not the players of old, the manager is not Alex Ferguson."

As mentioned above, Man United resume their faltering league campaign at home to Liverpool next Monday.

Ten Hag will be looking for a response having endured a difficult start to life as Man United manager.
