A fan ran onto the pitch during Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace to take a selfie with Casemiro.

In what was a tightly contested affair, United managed to break through a stubborn Palace defence in the 43rd minute after Bruno Fernandes finished off a fine team goal.

United came out in the second half chasing another goal but again faced a Palace defence that refused to let them in.

In the 55th minute, the game was halted after a fan ran onto the pitch towards the direction of United’s big-money summer signing Casemiro.

Usually, anyone that runs onto the pitch will have been chased down by stewards but this case was different.

The fan had all the time in the world to take a picture with the Brazilian star before slowly and calmly walking off. He was then greeted by the stewards.

A truly bizarre moment that left Casemiro baffled as he was casually posing for a picture with a fan in the middle of a Premier League match.

Fans were quick to react to the incident on social media.

One said: “Casemiro becomes the first player in Premier League history to be so in control of a game he can pose for a selfie with a fan in the middle of the pitch.”

Another tweeted: “Casemiro casually taking a photo with a fan in the middle of a game, your CDM could never.”

A third fan added: “Casemiro casually posing for a selfie with a fan. Calm as you like.”

Casemiro has been in fine form recently as he has inserted some much-needed steel and experience in the middle of the park for United.

Erik ten Hag previously expressed his delight in managing to secure Casemiro's signature, stating that he has raised the levels within the club.

He said: "In pre-season, we had a lot of discussions but you need the right player and we definitely have the right player. I am really happy for Manchester United, for this team to have him because he is really raising the limits for Manchester United."
