A Manchester City fan has sensationally called for Pep Guardiola to be sacked for failing in the Champions League.

Guardiola has been unable to deliver the Champions League to Man City since his appointment in 2016.

His side has fallen short over the years in Europe, with the Blues suffering a dramatic semi-final defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday.

For Man City, they go another season without European success – with one fan insisting the board need to reevaluate in order to seal Champions League glory.

Man City Sam said the club needs to replace Guardiola in an astonishing rant.

"The board need to re-evaluate. We need a manager that wins at this level," he told talkSPORT.

"We’ve done everything at domestic level, but we can’t do it in the Champions League.

"We need a manager who can perform."

Man City can salvage the season with a Premier League title and speaking after Wednesday's defeat, Guardiola admits his team will need a couple of days to come to terms with the loss.

"We need one or two days but we will rise, we will come up," he said. "We will have do so, with our people. We did everything we could. We were really, really close but in the end we could not do it."

Asked if this was his hardest European night as a coach, Guardiola replied: "I have had bad defeats in the Champions League before. [Such as] Barcelona against Chelsea when we played two exceptional games and couldn’t make the final. But, yeah, it’s tough. We can’t deny it.

"We were so close to reaching a Champions League final. We didn’t play that good in the first half but we were much better in the second half, we controlled the game and we found the goal. Unfortunately, we could not finish [it] when we were close."
