Liverpool's Mohamed Salah Named FWA Footballer Of The Year For 2022

Mohamed Salah has starred for Liverpool this season.

​Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been named the Football Writers' Association Men's Footballer of the Year for 2021/22. 

​Salah is enjoying another ultra-prolific campaign, having scored an impressive 22 goals in the Premier League. 

The Egyptian beat Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and West Ham's Declan Rice to bag the prestigious award for the second time in his legendary career.

He earned 48 per cent of the votes, with De Bruyne finishing in second place ahead of Rice.

FWA chair, Carrie Brown, said: "Both Mo and Sam have been outstanding this season, breaking records for both club and country. "As well as their performances on the pitch, they are leaders and standard bearers of excellence at their clubs and respective leagues.

"The fact they have won by such convincing margins underlines just how impressive they have been this season which has been recognised by our members."

The 29-year-old won the award for the first time in his debut season at Liverpool following a stunning campaign.

He's in his fifth season at Anfield and on course to have one of his best terms of his career.

Salah has 35 goal involvements in the Premier League this season as the Reds mount another title challenge.

Liverpool are one point behind Manchester City, with five league games left.
