Liverpool interested in sensational ex-Barcelona starlet - Jurgen Klopp is a big fan

Xavi Simons could become a Liverpool player soon.

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing PSV starlet Xavi Simons, according to reports after his superb display in his side's 2-0 win Arsenal.

Simons has been one of the standout players for the Dutch giants this season, following his decision to leave PSG on a permanent transfer in the summer.

The 19-year-old has scored an incredible eight goals and provided three assists in just 11 Eredivisie games this term. But it is the Europa League in which he has made his mark on a European stage.

During the win over Arsenal, Simons was electric. He showed superb skill on the ball, played a defence-splitting ball to Cody Gakpo and could have scored on numerous occasions himself, were it not for good saves from Aaron Ramsdale in the Arsenal goal.

The display helped to give PSV a fighting chance of winning their Europa League group, but they need to win and hope that Arsenal lose to FC Zurich on the final matchweek.

The performance of Simons, who came through Barcelona's academy and was highlighted as a future star before his 2019 move to PSG, has piqued the interest of several big clubs. And Liverpool are one of them.

Xavi Simons being chased by Liverpool, others

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool have been tracking Simons ahead of a potential move.

It is claimed that the 19-year-old 'fits perfectly' into the system that Jurgen Klopp employs at Anfield, and that the German himself is a fan of the player.

His creativity, meanwhile, could make him a perfect solution to help the Reds in advanced areas.

However, Klopp and Liverpool may face strong competition from other clubs.

According to the same source, AC Milan want to add Simons to their 'top-level attack'.

Finally, Arsenal are also named as an interested party, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta having seen exactly what the attacking midfielder is about during the two Europa League games against PSV.

The London club have reportedly been in the market for a wide forward, and with Simons having played on the right side of a four-player attack on several occasions for the Dutch giants this season, he could be an excellent option for Arsenal.
