Premier League giants Liverpool are considering a player-plus-cash bid to sign the highly rated Lazio player Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The midfielder is one of the most highly rated in his position across Europe, and has been for a considerable period of time.

The 27-year old has been at the Italian side for 9 years and has amassed a seriously impressive 296 appearances, providing 62 goals and 55 assists, and the Serbian has been influential in helping his team finish in the top 6 of the Serie A in the last three years.

It comes as no surprise that many top clubs are after Milinkovic-Savic, and according to a report from the Italian news outlet CMW, Liverpool are one of the most interested sides in securing his signature.

The article states that Lazio have never strayed from their £70 million valuation of their player, but Liverpool have readied an offer that could win them over.

The Merseyside Club are said to be prepared to offer up Joe Gomez, who the Liverpudlians value at around £30 million, plus around £30 million in cash, which will take their bid to Lazio’s desired selling price.

However, Liverpool will not only have to fight off interest from fellow Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea, but also from Serie A clubs Juventus and Inter Milan.

It was common knowledge all summer that the Reds are in desperate need of a midfielder, and rumours have been circulating over the last few months as to who they are going to sign, with the most intense speculation reserved for the future of Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool’s midfield is undoubtedly in a tough spot right now, with a worrying age profile and an injury prone nature.

It remains to be seen whether Klopp will bring in a more experienced player like Milinkivic-Savic, or if his intention is to turn towards a younger midfielder to partner Bellingham in order to complete a rebuild in that area of the pitch.
