Premier League Side Doing ‘Everything They Can’ To Sign Liverpool Defender

Premier League Side Doing ‘Everything They Can’ To Sign Liverpool Defender

Liverpool are reportedly asking for around £15 million for the Welsh defender who is high on Forest's wish list.

Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest are reportedly doing ‘everything they can’ to bring Liverpool defender Neco Williams to the club, according to BBC journalist Natalie Jackson.

With Liverpool recently signing Calvin Ramsey from Aberdeen, it is unlikely that Williams still has a future on Merseyside and the Reds have been looking to sell the youngster this summer.

Neco Williams spent half of the 2021/22 season on loan at Championship winners Fulham, having fallen to third in the pecking order at Liverpool, behind Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez.

Williams was tipped to succeed at Liverpool as a youngster, but after a run of forgetful performances for the Reds, he found himself out of favour at the club and moved to Fulham in January 2022.

He has since revived his career and appeared 14 times during Fulham’s title winning campaign. Being only 21-years-old, he could still do big things in his career.

Since making his debut for Wales in 2019, Williams has been a key part of Rob Page’s setup and recently featured during their 1-0 win against Ukraine; a result that takes them to the World Cup for the first time in 64 years.

Liverpool are reportedly asking for around £15 million, which is a fair price considering the defender likely has no future at the club.

Nottingham Forest are looking to bring the Welsh international to the club, having already signed former Liverpool ‘flop’, Taiwo Awoniyi.

The Nigerian joined Liverpool in 2015 for £400k but persistent work permit issues prevented the striker from making his desired impact at Anfield.

He made a permanent move to Union Berlin in 2020 following a successful loan spell at the club.

He scored 20 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions last season, prompting Forest to activate his £17 million release clause and make him their most expensive signing in history.

Forest will also be looking to complete deals for Dean Henderson and Morgan Gibbs-White in the coming weeks as it looks to be a busy window for the newly promoted side.
