Liverpool fans think they know the reason behind their poor form in viral clip, features Sadio Mane

The footage got Liverpool fans talking online.

Liverpool fans are reminiscing over a viral clip highlighting the club's iconic press during the days they had Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in attack.

It comes after footage of Salah pressing on his own in his side's crushing 3-0 defeat to Wolves last weekend emerged online.

He cut a frustrated figure at Molineux as he urged Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo to press from the front.

The clip shows Salah gesturing to Nunez while he pressed on his own as they went onto suffer their seventh league defeat of the season.

The tweet, uploaded by @PassLikeThiago, then shows Liverpool pressing with Salah, Mane and Firmino, who has been out of action through injury.

It highlights the effectiveness of Salah, Mane and Firmino's press, with some of the examples resulting in a goal.

Needless to say, Liverpool's press from previous seasons got fans online into a nostalgic frenzy.

One Twitter user wrote: "This trio will forever be iconic."

A second tweeted: "Tbf I'd say Diaz and jota are probably the best 2 pressing forwards itw when they are fit. Nunez and Gakpo just not fit enough for the Prem yet which is a shame."

A third added: "I don't know why people are blaming salah these days he's trying his best. He just doesn't have the support up front."

A fourth said: "The thing we miss most about Mane is his intelligence in the press. I don't think we miss him overall as he had declined but we don't have anyone who's the same as him in that regard rn."

Another commented: "Mane is missed."

Of course, Liverpool let Mane leave for Bayern Munich and he's clearly missed by fans and Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds have since drafted in Nunez and Gakpo, who are both still finding their feet following their transfers from Benfica and PSV Eindhoven respectively.

Klopp will be hoping for a reaction when his side resume their faltering league campaign at home to cross-town rivals Everton.
