Liverpool Will Face Surprise Team In Pre-Season Friendly

Liverpool Will Face Surprise Team In Pre-Season Friendly

This match will be one of many pre-season friendlies Liverpool have lined up before their Community Shield run-in with Manchester City.

Liverpool are set to take on Kidderminster Harriers in a pre-season friendly on July 22nd.

The Reds will travel to Worcestershire in one of their final matches before facing Manchester City in the Community Shield just eight days later.

It is likely to be a younger side than usual as Jürgen Klopp’s men will be facing RB Leipzig the day before in the Red Bull Arena, Germany.

Liverpool’s first pre-season game is against Manchester United in Thailand in nine days' time, followed by Crystal Palace.

Klopp's men will then face the aforementioned Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg before facing RC Strasbourg Alsace a day after their Community Shield bout with Pep Guardiola’s Man City

The FA Cup winners travel to Aggborough to face a side who catapulted themselves into the mainstream this season in the very same competition.

Russ Penn’s men beat Halifax Town, Grimsby Town and Reading to reach the Fourth Round, where they faced David Moyes’ West Ham United.

Despite the fact they led for almost the entirety of the encounter, a late strike from Declan Rice and an extra-time winner from Jarrod Bowen broke ‘Kiddy’ hearts.

“I’m extremely proud, what we’ve done is nothing short of remarkable, and we were that close from making history today.” said Penn after the defeat to the Irons.

“We created a lot, stayed in the game, had a lot of the ball."

"The goal came at the right time and we defended for our life in the second half but also had good chances."

“They were starting to turn it up a bit in the last ten minutes and I thought there would be another chance."

Then I honestly believed in extra time we’d get blown away but we didn’t.”

It is the second of two games against Premier League opposition for Harriers, who will also take on a Manchester United side four days later before the National League North season gets underway.

For Liverpool, players returned to pre-season today and will travel to Thailand soon.
