Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Spanish World Cup star Nico Williams, according to a fresh report.

Last night, Niclas Fullkrug earned Germany a precious point against Spain as Hansi Flick’s side fought for World Cup survival.

The 1-1 draw sees Spain retain top spot in Group E on four points, with Luis Enrique’s side having demolished Costa Rica 7-0 in their opening fixture.

Spain’s team has an impressive blend of youth and experience. 2010 World Cup winner Sergio Busquets anchors a midfield that also features 18-year-old Gavi and Pedri, who is just 20.

Coming on to stretch the German back-line in the second half was 20-year-old Athletic Bilbao winger Williams, who is attracting interest from Liverpool.

Liverpool interest

Spanish news outlet Fichajes claims the Reds are one of two clubs exploring the possibility of signing Williams.

Serie A giants Juventus, whose squad is in desperate need of rejuvenation, are also credited with an interest in the 20-year-old.

The report claims that Liverpool are closely monitoring Williams’ situation at Bilbao, with the youngster having netted three La Liga goals and provided four assists for his teammates in 14 La Liga appearances this term.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has allegedly asked Liverpool to track Williams’ progress. In turn, the Merseyside team have sent scouts to watch the rising star.

Premier League rivals Man Utd have reportedly been linked with a move for Williams, whose current deal runs until 2024.
