Wolves given injury boost on key player ahead of Liverpool clash, Klopp's side will be concerned

Wolves given injury boost on key player ahead of Liverpool clash, Klopp's side will be concerned

Reds' fans can't bear the sight of him.

Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui has hinted that Pedro Neto could be involved against Liverpool.

The pair meet at Anfield on Wednesday evening as the Reds look to get revenge for their humiliating 3-0 defeat at Molineux in early February.

Jurgen Klopp's side were played off the park, with goals from Craig Dawson, Ruben Neves and an own-goal from Joel Matip ensuring all three points for the relegation threatened side.

But in a major boost for the West Midlands club, Neto could be available for the contest.

Liverpool fans can't stand the sight of the winger after he looked to have thrown a spanner in the works of their late title charge last year.

The 22-year-old scored inside three minutes on the final day of the season, striking fear into supporters who knew only a win could see them clinch the title.

Fortunately for Reds fans, Sadio Mane was on target to level the scores before Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson secured the win late in the day.

Just as it looked as though they might have pulled off the impossible, Manchester City clawed their way back from 2-0 down against Aston Villa to win 3-2 and ensure a sixth Premier Leaguer trophy.

Lopetegui issues Neto injury update

Now, Neto could return to haunt Liverpool once more, with Lopetegui confirming he is "close" to a return.

Ahead of his side's trip to Anfield, the Spaniard said: "Pedro is working better. Day by day he feels better. He's closer to start helping us and of course we are happy for him."

When asked if he would be involved against Liverpool, the Wolves boss replied "maybe" with a smirk.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to have central defender Ibrahima Konate available for the contest, after he returned to training.

Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez is to be assessed ahead of kick-off to determine whether he can be involved following a shoulder injury.
