West Ham United manager David Moyes has heaped praise on Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

Salah put pen to paper on a lucrative new contract with the Merseyside club earlier this summer, ending speculation that he could depart the North West in this transfer window.

The deal is understood to last until 2025 and is believed to be worth around £350,000 a week, making him one of the highest paid players in the Premier League.

Despite this substantial wage for a player on the wrong side of 30, Hammers boss Moyes believes Salah is worth the money, describing him as “phenomenal”.

Speaking to Egyptian outlet Al Remontada via Facebook, the Scotsman said:

“I’m an ex-Everton and Manchester United manager, it’s difficult for me to say it, but it’s a really good club for Salah to be at and they have been an incredibly successful club and he is a phenomenal football player.

“I think it is a beautiful place for him to be in and Liverpool are also very fortunate to have Mo Salah as well.”

The Egypt international has indeed enjoyed a hugely successful five years at Anfield, winning the Premier League, Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.

He’s also scored a staggering 156 goals in 254 appearances for the Reds, winning the golden boot three times, as well as the PFA Players Player of the Year twice.

Securing Salah, Liverpool’s talisman, to a new deal was a priority for Jurgen Klopp in this window and means the staple of their side’s attack that came so close to delivering a quadruple last season remains at the club for the foreseeable future.

The 30-year-old has, however, lost one of his attacking partners in this window, with Sadio Mane leaving Merseyside for Bayern Munich this summer.

Klopp acted quickly to replace the Senegalese forward, bringing in starlet Darwin Nunez from Benfica for £85 million. The Uruguayan is expected to fill the void left by Mane.
