Pundit raves over Liverpool player who was "pure chaos" against Ajax

Don Hutchison is a big fan of one Liverpool star.

Former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison has praised the performance of Reds star Darwin Nunez in his side's 3-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The victory sends Jurgen Klopp's side through to the knockout stages of the competition.

They can still top their group, but need to beat Napoli on the final matchweek of the group stage by four goals. The Italian side defeated them 4-1 in Naples on the opening week, but the Reds have come a long way since then, with four wins from four games.

Goals from Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott sealed what was, on paper, a comfortable victory in Amsterdam.

But the hosts had numerous big chances in the first half, with Steven Berghuis striking the post from close range the clearest of their openings.

Klopp's side, however, went ahead through Salah's deft chip on 42 minutes. They then scored twice in seven minutes after half-time to effectively seal the win.

Don Hutchison praises Nunez

Nunez was once again praised for his performance, as he continues to cement his reputation as one of the top young strikers on the planet.

The Uruguayan took time to adapt to English football after joining from Benfica in the summer, but now has four goals in his last four Liverpool starts.

Taking to Twitter after the match, ex-Reds midfielder Hutchison, who played for the club between 1990 and 1994, was delighted with the 23-year-old's display - and believes he can get even better.

He wrote: "Darwin Nunez is pure chaos. Imagine when he settles down. Speaks English and matures. He is only 23."

Nunez took his goal superbly well - his second headed goal in three games. Initially, the ex-Benfica star's cross was parried out for a Liverpool corner.

Then, from Andy Robertson's delivery, Nunez found space and headed the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Four minutes later, the Reds put the result beyond doubt when Elliott found the top corner from a tight angle to make it 3-0.

Klopp and Liverpool are next in action on Saturday, when they host Leeds at Anfield.
