Liverpool fans slam Naby Keita after 'putting in one of the worst first half performances in living memory'

Liverpool fans slam Naby Keita after 'putting in one of the worst first half performances in living memory'

Naby Keita failed to impress in the 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park.

Naby Keita's nightmare showing against Crystal Palace has been slammed by fans on social media, with his performance brandished "one of the worst first half performances in living memory."

The former RB Leipzig midfielder - who cost the club a whopping £52.75 million back in 2018 - has struggled for form since making the move to Merseyside.

Keita returned to the starting eleven for the trip to Selhurst Park, having been an unused substitute in Liverpool's 5-2 drubbing at the hands of Real Madrid on Tuesday evening.

Liverpool's fans had hoped for a positive response from their side following the midweek horror show, however they failed to deliver, playing out a largely uneventful 0-0 draw which leaves Klopp's side further adrift in the race for the top four.

But whilst many Liverpool players failed to show up on Saturday night, it was the performance of Keita that left fans reeling on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: "Naby Keita putting in one of the worst first half performances in living memory"

Whilst a second added: "I haven't seen Naby Keita do anything positive with a football since he played for Leipzig."

"Naby Keita worst signing in LFC history" declared another.

A fourth disgruntled fan stated: "Naby Keita is the worst footballer I've ever seen!"

It wasn't just the Liverpool fans who were left disappointed in yet another lacklustre performance from the Guinean, as Jurgen Klopp hooked the midfielder at half-time in place of Harvey Elliott.

The long-term future of Keita has been thrown into doubt in recent months, with the 28-year-old rumoured to be keen on an Anfield exit if the opportunity arises in the summer.

La Liga giants Barcelona are one of the clubs thought to be interested in pursuing a deal for Keita, who looks increasingly likely to call time on what has been an underwhelming stint at Anfield.
