Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has shared numerous pictures of his pre-season training regime ahead of the new campaign, including his impressive 7km time on the treadmill.

Three weeks into his summer break and the Egyptian forward was already back to work.

In one Instagram post, the 31-year-old showed off his core strength by holding up his body weight with one arm on a balance ball and a dumbbell in the other; an exercise that's known to improve balance and flexibility.

Two days later and Salah posted a video of himself performing an exercise on a reformer pilates machine; a routine that provides a full-body workout that can help develop a strong core and tone a variety of major muscle group.

Some Liverpool fans, however, expressed their concern about the machine, with one commenting that he was "one wrong move away from a horrific injury."

You can see that exercise below.

Salah has also been running on the treadmill to improve his overall fitness ahead of pre-season. In fact, the Liverpool forward recorded a 7.1 kilometre run in 29 minutes and 46 seconds.

As you can see from the screenshot below, he recorded a pace of three minutes and 55 seconds per km on his run.

To put that data into perspective, the record for a 5km run is 12:35.3 – a feat set by Ugandan runner Joshua Cheptegei, who also clocked a record 10km time in 26:11.00.

Salah also returned to Melwood on Monday for Liverpool's first day of pre-season alongside new signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

He will be hoping to lead Jurgen Klopp's side to a top-four finish in the coming months after the Reds could only secure a place in the Europa League.

After missing out on Champions League football, Salah wrote on Twitter: "I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed.

"We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down."

Before the Premier League campaign officially kicks off, Liverpool will travel to Germany to play two fixtures in pre-season, before a short tour of Singapore which begins at the end of July.

The Reds will face Leicester City and Bayern Munich while in Asia.
