Liverpool 'Make Contact' With Serge Gnabry To Replace Sadio Mane, 'Lays Out Wage Demands'

Liverpool 'Make Contact' With Serge Gnabry To Replace Sadio Mane, 'Lays Out Wage Demands'

This would be huge.

Liverpool have reportedly been in contact with the agent of Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry ahead of a potential transfer.

The Reds look set to lose Sadio Mane this summer and Jurgen Klopp will need to replenish his frontline.

Gnabry has been on their radar for some time and the 26-year-old has one year remaining on his current deal with the Bundesliga giants.

Per Anfield Central, club officials have discussed personal terms with Gnabry's agent but are yet to commit to his salary demands of £250,000-per-week.

The 26-year-old scored 17 goals in all competitions this season as Bayern stormed to a 10th consecutive Bundesliga title.

Bayern value Gnabry close to the £70 million mark, but are aware his contract situation may force them to accept around half of that.

Gnabry is considering his options and Bayern would rather not lose him as a free agent in 2023.

The winger spent time in England with Arsenal, in addition to half a season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

He was famously criticised by Baggies manager Tony Pulis for not being 'Premier League quality'. He'd end up at Bayern 18 months later and the rest is history.

Liverpool are standing firm and not willing to destroy their wage structure, something they've stayed consistent with.

Mohamed Salah's contract is up next summer and much has been made about the reluctance to put him on a pedestal, despite being Liverpool's best player.

Reports claim Mane also asked for a significant pay rise, which was turned down by the Merseyside outfit's hierarchy.

The Senegal international is ironically set to join Bayern and could be their new talisman up front.

Robert Lewandowski wants to join Barcelona and it'd open up a starting spot in Julian Nagelsmann's side.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp refused comment on Mane's future, amid speculation last week.

He said: "Wherever Sadio will play next season he will be a big player, definitely. Sadio is in the shape of his life, for sure. (He is in) Brilliant shape, it is a joy to watch him.

"We ask of him a lot this season, football asks of him a lot — lot of finals. I couldn't care less in the moment. We're all fully focused on the game, Sadio is fully focused on the game.

"No concerns, it's completely normal. It's not the first time in my career that before a game rumours about Bayern Munich come up, but no problem at all."
