'It's likely...' - Klopp provides Diaz injury update ahead of Chelsea clash

'It's likely...' - Klopp provides Diaz injury update ahead of Chelsea clash

The Reds boss has lifted the lid on the winger's recovery.

Jurgen Klopp has dropped an injury update on Luis Diaz ahead of Liverpool's clash against Chelsea.

Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday for a fascinating encounter, as both both teams look to turn around their dismal form.

The Reds were on the receiving end of a 4-1 battering by Manchester City on the weekend, putting a significant dent in their Champions League hopes.

Meanwhile, Chelsea suffered a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on home soil, which marked the end of Graham Potter's reign at the club.

But while Potter's dismissal will dominate the headlines, Klopp has provided an important update on Diaz's return to fitness.

Klopp provides Diaz injury update

Diaz has been sidelined for over six months with a knee injury, after an explosive start to life at Anfield last season.

When pushed for an update on the 26-year-old, Klopp explained: "No he's not available. He is in training, but he's not ready for this game. So as much as we want him to be back, we still have to give him time.

"Obviously, it's long ago he had the initial injury but when he came back to training in Dubai he looked outstanding until he got injured again. So we have to make sure that we are patient."

However, the Reds boss suggested there was a chance he could be available for Liverpool's crunch match against Arsenal.

"I wouldn't say that Arsenal is completely out of the picture," said Klopp. "But it''s rather unlikely. After that Luis will be back."

Klopp also offered an update on Thiago's recovery, revealing he had returned to team training, but would not be available for the Chelsea game.

"Two days after a game pretty much everybody is a doubt", added Klopp.
