Liverpool have submitted an offer for Ismael Bennacer, according to a fresh report.

Liverpool have submitted an offer for Ismael Bennacer, according to a fresh report.

The Reds urgently need to bring in new midfielders, with first-choice options Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson having been plagued by injuries throughout the season.

Meanwhile, Fabinho, who was once labelled ‘the lighthouse’ for his steady midfield presence, has been a shadow of his former self this term.

With the precarious fitness and form of their first-choice midfielders and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita’s contracts expiring in the summer, Liverpool will be looking to bring in some fresh faces.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been linked with Borussia Dotmund wonderkid Jude Bellingham, Ghana World Cup star Mohammed Kudus and RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer.

However, the Reds are thought to have now made a bid for Bennacer.

Bennacer to Liverpool?

According to Corriere dello Sport Liverpool are pushing to sign Algerian international Bennacer and have even made an offer for the player.

The 25-year-old is reportedly in contract negotiations with AC Milan, with the seven-time European champions wanting to secure a deal quickly amid interest from the Premier League.

Klopp’s side were reportedly eager to sign the Algerian international last summer but instead opted to bring in Arthur Melo on loan.

However, Tutto Mercato claims that while Bennacer is open to extending his Milan contract, Klopp is a big admirer of the midfielder.

Bennacer, who played a vital role as Stefan Pioli’s side secured their first Scudetto in 11 years last season, is said to have a £43million release clause.
