Liverpool Fan Bought A Wrecked £40 Car And Drove To Wembley With Jamie Carragher In The Back Seat

Talk about living it up in style.

A Liverpool fan decided to drive to Wembley in his £40 Skoda - and picked up Jamie Carragher along the way.

Jurgen Klopp's side face Chelsea on Sunday afternoon with this season's first major honour up for grabs and YouTuber Simon Wilson has busted out an old favourite.

For those who don't remember, Simon bought a 1993 Skoda Favorit GLXI back in 2019 to drive to Madrid for the Champions League final.

Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur to win Europe's most prestigious trophy for a sixth time and Simon is hoping history repeats itself if he travels in his old banger.

You've always got to go bigger for the sequel though. The car is older, mouldier and London is closer than Madrid. How do you spice it up?

Enter Jamie Carragher. The Reds legend will be working on Sky Sports during the game and needed a way to get down to London.

Simon and his brother, Ben, pulled up to Melwood and standing outside was none other than Carragher.

"Is this it?! I'm doing the game you know," Carragher asked while carrying his attire for Sky's coverage.

"I normally get chauffeur-driven by Sky but you said this'd be alright," an increasingly worried Carragher joked.

The cost of a return ticket between Liverpool and London is £90 and a flight would also be around £90.

Petrol money will be lower than that and the car being a long-term investment means it's the best value option.

"You drove to Madrid in this? Liverpool won that final so maybe that's one reason I should do this..." Carragher admitted.

The former England international begrudgingly played back seat driver and wanted some music on to liven the trip up.

One major problem though. The radio wasn't fitted.

"What year are we in? 2022? This radio looks like it's from 1922." A truer sentence has never been spoken and it was in that moment, Carragher knew he'd messed up.

He bailed on the journey at Liverpool Lime Street Station and left Simon and Ben with a message of "F**k this I'm out."

Simon and Ben did manage to make it down to London late on and will be hoping to see Liverpool lift silverware once again.

It'll be an uncomfortable trip back up to Merseyside if not.

Scratch that, it'll probably be an uncomfortable trip back up to Merseyside no matter what.
