Liverpool's new £60 million signing Dominik Szoboszlai has answered the burning question of how you correctly pronounce his name.

The 22-year-old's move to Anfield from RB Leipzig was officially confirmed on Sunday after the Reds moved swiftly to activate his release clause ahead of it expiring.

He has penned a five-year contract to become the fourth Hungarian international to play for Liverpool and follows up the addition of World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.

Liverpool fans are seriously excited about the capture of the former Red Bull Salzburg midfielder but the big question on everyone's lips was: how does one say his name?

In a video posted on Liverpool's TikTok, an employee asked Szoboszlai what everyone wanted to know and while he was tying his laces in the changing room in his full kit, he gave a perfect pronunciation.

His first name is exactly how it reads and according to the man himself, you are supposed to say his name like, "So-boss-lie" - which does sound like a very scouse phrase.

The guide will prove handy for supporters, commentators and pundits - with some admitting they have been saying it wrong.

One wrote: "I've been saying Sho-Bo-szlai."

A second said: "Not me staying here to learn how to say his name properly."

A third joked: "Paul Merson will have fun with this."

Another admitted: "Easier than I thought."

While a fifth commented: "Now what was the purpose of putting Z."

A sixth user has already got his strategy, adding: "I'll just be calling him Sobo, especially after a few."

It's been reported that Szoboszlai has a Steven Gerrard tattoo on his arm - making it even more fitting that he is taking on the iconic No.8 shirt the former skipper wore for the Reds.

The number was recently vacated by Naby Keita, who has joined Werder Bremen on a free transfer.

Speaking after the transfer was wrapped up, Szoboszlai told Liverpool's club website: "It’s really, really good. I enjoyed the last [few] days and I’m looking forward to knowing everybody better.

"The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy. But at the end I’m here, I’m happy and I can’t wait to get started. [A] really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good."

Able to play in multiple positions, Szoboszlai has 14 goal contributions each of his last two seasons in the Bundesliga.
