To the tune of 'ABBA - Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!', they sang: "Tsimi, Tsimi, Tsimi our Kostas Tsimikas, his passport says he's Greek but we all know that he's Scouse..."

Tsimikas has played 26 games in all competitions this campaign and scored the winning penalty in his side's shootout victory against Chelsea in the FA Cup final earlier this month.

Speaking after his decisive spot-kick, the 26-year-old, whose become a cult hero at Anfield, spoke of his brilliant nickname.

"It's very, very special for me. The manager asked me which number I want. I say number seven. He asks me why so far? I say I want number seven," he said.

"And number seven gave me the opportunity to win the game. I choose the right side and I score. And I am very happy with that.

"We want to win. Our goal from the start of the season was to go for it, hopefully at the end we are happy.
