Liverpool take on Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday in the first match of the upcoming Premier League weekend - but which players may have a point to prove during the fixture?

Both teams head into the game in mixed form, with Chelsea having won only three of their last 10 games in all competitions.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have lost both of their most recent Premier League games, conceding three goals in away defeats to Brighton and Brentford.

But both sides are going into this clash off the back of a win, with the Reds beating Wolves 1-0 in an FA Cup third round replay on Tuesday. Chelsea, meanwhile, managed to secure a 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace to record a vital three points in the league.

The Blues could hand a debut to new signing Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined from Shakhtar Donetsk last weekend, while 21-year-old Benoit Badashile will look to make it back-to-back clean sheets following his debut for the club against Palace.

Here are five players that have their own points to prove during Liverpool vs Chelsea.

Mykhailo Mudryk (Chelsea)

Mudryk will very much want to hit the ground running on his debut in English football, should he be deemed ready to play a part against Liverpool.

The 22-year-old hasn't played a competitive game since November 23 due to the Ukrainian league's winter break, so it may take time for him to return to full match sharpness. Still, a strong debut would be the perfect start to life at Stamford Bridge.

Kalidou Koulibaly (Chelsea)

Kalidou Koulibaly had a difficult afternoon during Chelsea's 4-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City earlier in January, and after starting the subsequent 2-1 league loss against Fulham, was dropped for the 1-0 win over Palace.

The Blues kept a clean sheet in the absence of the Senegal international, who will be desperate to put in a dominating display against Liverpool should he be restored to the starting lineup.

Mason Mount (Chelsea)

Mason Mount has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months, as talks over a new deal at Chelsea are ongoing.

On the pitch, the England international has struggled for form recently. As a player with over 10 league goal contributions in each of his three full seasons at senior level for Chelsea, Mount has just one goal in his last 13 games for his club in all competitions. He will want to get back to scoring or assisting ways against Liverpool.

Cody Gakpo (Liverpool)

After signing from PSV for a fee of £38 million at the beginning of January, Cody Gakpo is yet to open his Reds goalscoring account in three appearances. After showing glimpses of his potential so far, Saturday's clash against Chelsea could be the game that establishes the Netherlands international as a Liverpool star.

Harvey Elliott (Liverpool)

Harvey Elliott netted a superb goal in the win over Wolves at Molineux, but has not scored in the Premier League since the 9-0 win over Bournemouth on August 18.

Having played every league game this season, the young midfielder will no doubt get another opportunity against Chelsea, and could therefore add to his goal tally for the week at Anfield.
