Manchester United fans have got seriously excited after seeing Lisandro Martinez's range of passing in a compilation which has gone viral.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a £46 million move for the 24-year-old is "imminent" and the deal is expected to go through in the next two days.

Ajax had been holding out for £50 million but are allowing Martinez to fulfil his wish of playing in the Premier League and reunite with former boss Erik ten Hag.

Arsenal were keen on the Argentina international but it seems as though United have won the race for his signature.

And fans of the Red Devils are enthused about the signing of a centre-back who is extremely comfortable on the ball.

A compilation titled, "Have you seen any CB that pass the ball like Lisandro Martinez ?" has amassed over 178,000 views on YouTube and gives a good indication of exactly the type of player United will be getting.

With the principles instilled by legends like Rinus Michels and Johan Cruyff, you have to adept in possession to play for Ajax and Martinez has that in abundance.

With a cultured left-foot, he has no problem playing out from the back and is also prone to a defence-splitting pass in behind the opposition backline or a clever switch of play.

As the four minute clip shows, the accuracy of his forward passing is particularly impressive. Last season, Ajax's Player of the Year averaged more passes per 90 minutes than any other player in the Eredivisie.

He has played in central midfielder on occasion and could even do a job in that role for United in the same way Daley Blind did under Louis van Gaal.

In the comments on the video, it's fair to say that fans are loving what they are seeing from their next addition.

One supporter wrote: "His passing is not just better than any of center backs in the world but also better than most of the midfielders."

Another commented: "A defender that can pass like Scholes.... pls bring him in asap."

A third went big, saying: "His passing reminded me of David Beckham. Never seen this for a long time."

United were strongly linked with Jurrien Timber, Martinez's regular Ajax defensive partner, but will now complete the transfer for the former Newell's Old Boys player instead.

Some have expressed concern over Martinez's height and the fact he is only 5ft 9 but he is in fact very strong aerially too.

He had a 71 per cent aerial duel success rate last term and made 29 headed clearances - more than any other player.

Aggressive and with an excellent reading of the game, Martinez nullified both Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez in the Champions League last season.
