A stunning compilation of Lisandro Martinez at Manchester United shows he's been colossal at the back this season.

Martinez has starred for Man United who shelled out a reported £47 million to acquire his services from Ajax last summer.

He was one of Erik ten Hag's main transfer targets following his appointment and the defender dubbed 'The Butcher' hasn't disappointed.

Martinez has played 15 games in all competitions and has already become one of Ten Hag's main lieutenants.

That's despite concerns raised over his height, with Jamie Carragher claiming he's too small to play in the Premier League.

But the 24-year-old has silenced his critics by delivering stellar performances in defence.

A compilation of his performances so far at the Red Devils shows he's been a tremendous signing.

It shows him being commanding and getting stuck in, highlighting his duel with Mohamed Salah against Liverpool.

His tenacity is loved by Man United fans following his clashes with the likes of Mason Mount and Harry Kane.

The video also shows off his range of passing and his comfortability on the ball.

The clip of Martinez, titled 'Lisandro Martínez - The Butcher of Manchester' has got Man United fans talking online, with some comparing him to Nemanja Vidic.

One Twitter user wrote: "This is the type of player that should wear the captain arms band, I like him so much."

A second tweeted: ""e robbed ajax this guys worth 200m."

A third added: "He is what we thought and hopped that Rojo will be!!! Love this guy."

A fourth commented: "We done found another Vidic."

Another commented: "Got that Vidic in him."

Former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand hailed Martinez and his partnership with Varane.

"Martinez has been top this season but Varane gives us that something different, that speed, that experience and physicality," he said. "I think he could be a huge loss.

"You need them two [Varane and Martinez] back together. We've seen straight away that those two together make us a different team, it's as simple as that."
