Fox News makes incredibly poor mistake when criticising Lionel Messi’s move to Inter Miami

Fox News makes incredibly poor mistake when criticising Lionel Messi’s move to Inter Miami

Lionel Messi’s move to Inter Miami was confirmed on Wednesday night

Fans can’t quite believe what Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade said when speaking about Lionel Messi’s move to Inter Miami.

After weeks of intense speculation, it was confirmed on Wednesday night that Messi will move to MLS side Inter Miami at the end of his Paris Saint Germain contract.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner announced his decision to move to the States via an interview with Spanish news outlets SPORT and Mundo Deportivo.

Since then, a lot of people have been discussing Messi’s next career move.

However, Fox News’ Kilmeade baffled fans when he mentioned Englishman David Beckham when talking about Messi’s potential language barrier.

He said: “The only thing I worry about, he [Messi] doesn't speak English, and I want to see him sit down and talk.

“One thing about David Beckham, he learned to speak English for us, with an accent, when he came at 32 years old.”

Fans were quick to react to Kilmeade’s words.

One joked: “Beckham was dedicated enough to make English the first language he learned. I wish Messi showed this level of commitment and professionalism.”

Another said: “I can’t tell if he’s joking or not.”

A third fan added: “This video is not a joke. The guy was serious.”

Someone else wrote: “An Englishman learned to speak English. This guy is an oxygen thief.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Good joke but out of place so people gonna think it's serious.”

When announcing his move to Miami, Messi said: “I will not return to Barcelona, I will join Inter Miami.

“After winning the World Cup and not being able to go to Barca, it was time to go to the United States to live football in a different way and enjoy more day to day. Obviously with the same responsibility and desire to want to win and to always do things well. But more calmly.”
