'A Masterclass In Sh*thousery' - Lincoln Striker Runs To Celebrate Goal In His Former Manager’s Face

'A Masterclass In Sh*thousery' - Lincoln Striker Runs To Celebrate Goal In His Former Manager’s Face

He would go on to score a hat-trick against his former club.

Lincoln City striker Chris Maguire has caused a stir in League One after celebrating a goal against his former side Sunderland by cheering in the face of Black Cats boss Lee Johnson.

Maguire spent three seasons at Sunderland between 2018 and 2021 but was let go by Johnson when his contract ran out in July.

The Scottish winger would go on to join Lincoln on a free transfer in the summer and came up against his former club in a league match at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday.

Maguire put the Imps ahead with a superb strike after half an hour and took full advantage of his opportunity to celebrate.

After initially holding his hands up in apology to the Sunderland supporters, Maguire sprinted over to the touchline to celebrate in the face of Johnson.

Maguire would go on to score a penalty in the second half before completing his hat-trick with a well-placed finish with 15 minutes to go, sealing a 3-1 win for Lincoln.

Maguire’s provocative celebration has certainly got fans talking on social media.

“Chris Maguire is delivering a masterclass in sh*thousery against his former club tonight,” wrote Twitter user Sam Stafford.

Paul Kendrick added: “Elite level sh*thousery, right out of the top drawer.

"Starts off by making a point of not celebrating against his old club…forget that, straight off to Lee Johnson…now has a hat-trick.”

Sunderland boss Johnson may now be rueing his decision to let Maguire go.
