Football fans voice anger as ANOTHER costly streaming platform launches in the UK

Free-to-air sport is becoming more difficult to find and fans are not happy.

Watching live football if you are not able to get to a stadium to see the action in the flesh in front of your eyes can be quite expensive with multiple subscriptions - and fans have voiced their displeasure after another one launched.

Fans of the Premier League have been accustomed to having to shell out for a Sky Sports or a TNT Sports subscription if you want to watch the English top flight on TV.

Supporters of EFL clubs also do the same, with Sky Sports now showing half of all clubs' fixtures from this campaign.

And it has been the case in the past where TV rights for the likes of La Liga were also held by Sky, so fans would have to shell out to watch the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

TNT Sports also have exclusive live rights to the likes of the Champions League and Europa League, while Amazon Prime has also had a selection of Premier League games to broadcast at times in the past.

Amazon Prime has also previously offered coverage of the French top tier, Ligue 1, in the past, but the division itself has now taken steps to sell its offerings directly to supporters in the UK.

It has been confirmed that Ligue 1 will be offering a monthly streaming pass in the UK and Republic of Ireland, at a cost of £9.99 from the third round of fixtures, with the second round - which starts this evening - being free.

Though this a relatively small sum of money, it is still something which is another cost to household bills.

And given that money is tight and there has been a cost of living crisis with inflation only putting prices generally in one direction, it is yet another financial cost which football fans must pay if they want to watch the French first division and the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco in action.

Supporters have taken to social media to react to the announcement and some are not happy with having to shell out more money to watch live football.

One said: "Another paid streaming service. Everything is unaffordable now."

Another wrote: "Nobody on earth is buying this."

One fan summed up the issue, saying: "Yea that’s annoying. Pay Discovery+ for Champions League. Pay Sky Sport for Premier League. This for Ligue 1. I don’t even talk about La Liga..."

One supporter added: "Yet another subscription then. Dodgy streams are the best thing to happen to fans in a generation and the football version of civil disobedience."

Another fan wrote: "A glimpse into the future?"

And one supporter raised the question: "Shouldn't the '100% of Ligue 1' thing be affected by the 3pm blackout ruling?"
