Leroy Sane turns up to Bayern Munich vs. Hoffenheim with nasty swollen lip after Sadio Mane punch

German forward Leroy Sane could be seen with a swollen lip ahead of kick off.

Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane sported a nasty swollen lip on Saturday afternoon as Bayern Munich played host to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

The 27-year-old Germany international was left with a bloodied mouth following an altercation with teammate Sadio Mane after Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final defeat to Manchester City.

It all started when Sane and Mane had an argument on the Etihad pitch in the latter stages, when Mane ran into space for a through ball instead of coming short.

After the full-time whistle, the former Liverpool forward attacked Sane and punched him in the face, according to BILD, after he complained about how Sane spoke to him.

In fact, they had to be separated by their Bayern teammates before Sane was then told to leave the dressing room.

Four days later and the former Manchester City winger could be seen with a swollen lip as he left the Allianz Arena dressing room to warm-up ahead of Saturday's clash against Hoffenheim.

Pictures soon emerged on social media of the scenes ahead of kick-off.

Twitter page @OptusSport uploaded an image of Sane warming up alongside the caption: "The state of Leroy Sane's swollen lip. It comes after his midweek dressing room altercation with Sadio Mane."

It is believed Mane, who was suspended for the game against Hoffenheim, apologised for his actions during a training session on Thursday as he warmed up alongside Sane.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer has since commented on the incident. "What happened after the game cannot be tolerated," he told BILD.

"Sadio was punished. The fine - even with his salary - hurts him. He and Leroy Sané spoke out. Sadio has apologized to the team. We are now looking ahead”.

Earlier this week, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich also released an official statement on the matter.

They wrote: "Sadio Mane, 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday.

"The reason is misconduct by Mané after FC Bayern's Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mané will receive a fine."
