Xavi made a flying start in Al Sadd's Asian Champions League clash with Pakhtakor Tashkent after scoring a superb first-half brace.

The Barcelona legend opened the scoring with pure class when he received the ball on the edge of the box and curled in an absolute peach of a strike past Sanjar Kuvvatov.

Khodjiakbar Alidjanov fired back for Pakhtakor, but then the 39-year-old Spanish midfielder once again stepped up to put his side ahead.

Xavi fired in a sublime free-kick past Kuvvatov, who was rooted to the spot as the ball hit the back of the net.

Dragan Ćeran would pull one back for Pakhtakor and both sides were level at 2-2 by the time that half-time rolled around.

Xavi, who left Barça in 2015, has offered his thoughts on the eagerly awaited clash between Manchester United and Barcelona on Wednesday.

While the reigning La Liga champions enter the first-leg quarter-final clash as the favourites, the former Barça star believes that there could be one area where the Red Devils could take advantage of in the match at Old Trafford.

"This season Barcelona have let in more goals than is normal for them and that will give Manchester United some hope, I am sure," he told the Daily Mirror.

"In games like this, you need a leader and a player like [Gerard] Piqué needs to make sure the rest of the team stay calm and composed. He has won everything and can be that leader.

"This is an area that Manchester United can really cause Barcelona a problem in.

"[Romelu] Lukaku is a big physical threat and then they have then players like [Anthony] Martial and [Marcus] Rashford who have a lot of speed, a lot of quality and both can get goals."
