Ruud van Nistelrooy's clinical finishing ability at Manchester United has been highlighted in an incredible fan-made compilation.

Legendary former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to snap up the iconic 44-year-old Dutchman from PSV Eindhoven back in 2000 for £18.5m.

However, the deal was scuppered due to PSV's refusal to agree to further medical tests amid concerns over Van Nistelrooy's fitness.

United fans would have to wait until 2001 to see the Red Devils complete their acquisition of the former PSV star for a then-British record transfer fee of £19m.

And Ferguson's eagerness to land Van Nistelrooy was rewarded by the Dutch former striker's impact in the final third and unbelievable goalscoring talents.

Van Nistelrooy made 219 appearances and scored an impressive 150 times during his five seasons at Old Trafford.

Now, one fan has produced a stunning compilation of every single time the former United striker scored for the Red Devils.

Fans reminisced about Van Nistelrooy's incredible goalscoring prowess as one supporter branded him the "best centre-forward I've ever seen in a Man United shirt."

A fan wrote: "Most clinical finisher at United since Denis Law, absolutely lethal."

While someone else posted: "He made me love football and become a die-hard Man Utd fan."

And a third fan said: "The best centre-forward I've ever seen in a Man United shirt."

A fourth added: "His first touch was immaculate, he never seemed to miss once he'd got a chance."

Another United fan said: "Legend. Ruud 'Ruthless' van Nistelrooy. Probably one of our best strikers hands down. GGMU."

Van Nistelrooy's relationship with Ferguson deteriorated at United amid a heated training session spat with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Netherlands international, who later made amends with Ferguson over his behaviour, left United in 2006 to sign for Real Madrid.

Van Nistelrooy would play for Hamburger and Malaga before calling it time on his remarkable football career in 2012.
