Ruben Loftus-Cheek told Laura Woods that she is his celebrity crush live on air in a hilarious exchange.

The Chelsea midfielder joined talkSPORT's breakfast show with Woods and Ally McCoist and played a game of 'SOS'.

It was a simple task, with the England international having to name a teammate or manager - past of present - who would be best suited to a number of scenarios proposed to him.

Summer signing Marc Cucurella is the man he'd go to for dating advice or a quiz show partner, while he wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift with former boss Antonio Conte, recently sacked by Spurs.

But then the big question came at the very end of the interview when Woods asked which famous person Loftus-Cheek has the hots for.

And to her shock, after a pause, Loftus-Cheek said the presenter's name and joked, “Laura Woods!”.

𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮: “We are asking everyone who their celebrity crush is… so, who is yours?”

𝗥𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗻: “Ermm… Laura Woods.” 🤭🤭

Woods branded his response "an exceptional answer!” and finished by cheekily stating she would get his digits.

The 35-year-old quipped: "It’s been an absolute pleasure and I’ll get your number later!”

The former Sky Sports host, now working for ITV and DAZN, has plenty of admirers and regularly has to turn down those shooting their shot.

She brutally rejected an ex Love Island star on Twitter in December after he tried to ask her out to dinner.

Woods is one of the very best in the business at her job but did reveal her worst ever gaffe saw her accidentally kiss the interviewee on the lips.

She was interviewing former darts world number one Steve Beaton, nicknamed 'The Bronze Adonis' and a monumental misunderstanding meant a peck happened when it was supposed to be a handshake or hug.

Speaking on the Happy Hour podcast, Woods explained: "When I finished the interview, I went, ‘thank you so much’ and I went to shake his hand, he went for a cuddle. Because he’d gone for a cuddle, I like put my arms around him and almost went for a kiss on the cheek.

"He then realised I was for the kiss so he turned and we kissed on the lips. I was like, ‘oh my God, what have I done?’ He was like the holy grail and I'd poisoned it. Anyway, I realised and I went back into the truck, sat down and the guys were like: ‘are you alright?’

"I had my head in my hands and was like, ‘I just kissed the Bronzed Adonis on the mouth and I felt his beard’. I felt like I’d done the worst thing in the world but now I revel in that.”
