Real Madrid fans have been left bewildered after finding out who assisted Joselu's first goal for the club some 13 years ago.

The 34-year-old forward has etched his name into Madrid folklore this week after netting twice in injury time to secure passage to this season's UEFA Champions League final.

Trailing 1-0 against Bayern Munich, the veteran forward wasted no time following his introduction from the bench and has thus earned himself cult status in the process.

Amazingly, footage has resurfaced online of his first goal for the club back in 2011.

Popping up with a tidy finish against Almeria at the Bernabeu, it was in fact Cristiano Ronaldo who provided the assist in a 8-1 victory.

Karim Benzema, Emmanuel Adebayor and Ronaldo had already notched before the former Manchester United man turned provider to set up the then 21-year-old.

Having then spent 11 years away from the club, Joselu returned on loan earlier this season after previous spells with Stoke City and Newcastle United.

It's been some journey for the Spain international who was seen celebrating wildly as Carlo Ancelotti's side enjoyed their recent semi-final success.

"Joselu did a fantastic job," reflected the Italian following Joselu's two-goal haul.

"He is a fantastic striker and we could use more the width to put crosses in and we did really well.

"We had a lot of energy at the end of the game.

"Unbelievable [mentality] and I am really grateful to the players because they work really hard, they build a fantastic atmosphere.

"They are really humble, really generous and I think it is the best squad I ever had in my career."

Real Madrid are set to take on Borussia Dortmund in next month's final at Wembley Stadium, with Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho preparing for an reunion.

Hoping to make it a season to remember, Sancho has enjoyed quite the turnaround in Germany after being bombed out of the Manchester United team earlier this season by Erik ten Hag.
