Mbappe’s Instant Response to Carvajal Red Card Leaves Real Fans Talking

Kylian Mbappe bagged two penalties for 10-man Real Madrid as they squeezed past Marseille in the Champions League.

Real Madrid fans picked up on how Kylian Mbappe reacted to Dani Carvajal's red card in the 2-1 win over Marseille on Tuesday night.

Real found themselves 1-0 down at the Santiago Bernabeu after Mbappe's former PSG teammate Timothy Weah opened the scoring but a pair of penalties from the Frenchman in either half ensured the 15-time European champions kicked off the new Champions League campaign with a victory.

It was anything but a vintage display from Xabi Alonso's men, who had captain Carvajal sent off for a moment of madness in the 71st minute.

The Spain international raised his head towards Marseille goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli when they clashed and after he fell to the floor, Carvajal was shown a straight red for violent conduct.

Carvajal, having been brought on for the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold early on, is now set for a three-match suspension in the Champions League and will miss the trip to Liverpool on 4 November.

Federico Valverde took the armband back having started as captain, but Mbappe surprised supporters but how he quickly he took it off Carvajal.

With Carvajal stood on the pitch following his dismissal, Mbappe appeared and pulled the armband down off him before the veteran full-back helped take it off himself.

One fan on X responded: "Bruuh was like it’s time to go hermano."

A second said: "No time to waste!!"

A third added: "He's just naturally funny."

A fourth commented: "He didn't even think it twice, bro just take it off."

Given the game was level at the time, Mbappe was in a hurry to get proceedings back underway and went on to bag the winner from the spot after a controversial handball call inside the area.

Mbappe comments on Alonso's new ideas

The Frenchman made it 50 goals in 64 appearances for Los Blancos and is enjoying the new demands placed on him by Alonso.

"I feel really good. I don't think about being one of the team's leaders, I think about being myself, Kylian, I think about the team," Mbappe told Movistar, as per ESPN.

"Xabi wants us to win the ball back more quickly. We have to understand what we do, and then we're determined to do it, because we want to win.

"I do what the boss asks me to do. He wants a high block, to win the ball high up, and then we can create chances. We'll get used to it and it will help the team win trophies. ... I want to help the team, if it's scoring goals, pressing or assists."

Real look to continue their perfect start to the new season on Saturday when they take on Espanyol.

In a big boost to the team, Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga are set to return to the squad.
