Jude Bellingham 'at risk of huge ban' for alleged Mason Greenwood slur which could ruin Real Madrid's season

Jude Bellingham 'at risk of huge ban' for alleged Mason Greenwood slur which could ruin Real Madrid's season

Bellingham could receive a ban.

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham is potentially at risk of a huge ban if he is found guilty of using an alleged slur towards Mason Greenwood, according to a new report.

Getafe made a complaint to La Liga after Real's 2-0 win over Getafe earlier this month, over an alleged incident between the pair that occurred during the match.

As part of league protocol, La Liga then included Getafe's complaint as part of a weekly report sent to the RFEF (Spanish FA), which notes incidents that may need to be investigated further.

In the report, La Liga stated (quotes via ESPN): "After the end of the match, messages were detected through social media regarding a possible incident in which visiting player Jude Bellingham allegedly insulted local player Mason Greenwood in English.

"Numerous media outlets have reported on the incident, as evidenced in the attached incident report."

There was footage of the alleged incident that appeared on social media during and after the game, but there was no audio.

According to The Sun, the RFEF has now appointed a judge to investigate the complaint, and a conclusion will be reached within two weeks.

Should the judge decide that Bellingham has committed a 'serious' offence, he would be banned for a total of four games.

However, the punishment for committing a 'grave' verbal offence is up to a staggering 10 games.

If such a ban was to be applied before Real's next fixture - and the fixture schedule remains the same - Bellingham would be out until May, only returning for the final five games of the La Liga season.

He would also miss the upcoming El Clasico at home to Barcelona, which takes place on April 21.

However, Real's ongoing participation in the Champions League would potentially mean he would be back for the Barcelona fixture, if other games are rescheduled.

Neither Bellingham nor Greenwood, nor their two respective clubs, have made a public comment on the incident since it occurred.
