Tensions between Real Madrid and La Liga are rising after the Spanish giants made a bold claim about the league on their official tv channel.

In just 10 days, the 2025/26 La Liga season gets underway as Girona FC welcome Rayo Vallecano to Estadi Montilivi on August 15.

Champions Barcelona travel to Mallorca for their first match of the season on August 16, while Real Madrid begin their season with a home game against CA Osasuna on August 19.

Following a busy campaign at the Club World Cup, the match against Osasuna will be the first time that many fans will watch Madrid since the summer, with the club only playing one pre-season friendly beforehand.

But before the game kicks off, Real Madrid have launched a brutal attack on La Liga officials, and they are furious.

With Madrid's La Liga season opener set to take place just 41 days after they lost to Paris Saint-Germain in a Club World Cup semi-final, they quickly complained and asked for the game to be delayed.

The Spanish club argued that player fatigue could increase the risk of injuries while making the match unfair given that they had less rest compared to other clubs in the league.

But, despite their best efforts, their requests fell on deaf ears and the game will go ahead as planned, infuriating Real Madrid TV.

In a clear message on the official channel, the club said: “La Liga 2025/26 starts tainted, manipulated, and distorted.”

The message referenced an article Miguel Garcia Caba, a legal expert who specialises in La Liga and Real Madrid.

In his article, Garcia accused the league's Judge, Jose Alberto Pelaez, of ignoring the urgenc of the decision, brushing off medical logic, and slamming the door on fairness, stating that it wasn't a neutral decision and that it was a clear strike against Real Madrid.

After the claims went viral online, La Liga President Javier Tebas hit back at the claims in a lengthy post on the social media platform X.

He wrote: "Miguel, your 'article'—if it can be called that— is as legally-minded as I am a curling fan. There's only one sentence that deserves analysis: 'He takes refuge in the rules. Always the rules. But we all know that when it's convenient, they are interpreted, adapted, bent. Not this time.'"

Tebas claimed that the legal expert was taking Real Madrid's side in the argument due to his ties with the club and that it was actually him who was being unfair, implying that La Liga should 'bend the rules' in favour of Real Madrid.
