Lamine Yamal may have dropped a hint about his odds of winning the Ballon d'Or following Spain's 5-4 win over France in the Nations League.

During Thursday night's Nations League semi final clash between Spain and France, Yamal reminded fans why he is one of the best players in the world with a dominant performance for his country.

Less than a year after he played a key role in Spain's victory in the 2024 European Championships, the youngster scored a brace during the meeting with France.

The performance came off the back of Yamal enjoying a fantastic season for Barcelona, leading to many fans calling for him to be awarded the 2025 Ballon d'Or.

And now, it appears that the 18-year-old may have dropped a hint about his chances of winning the award after he suddenly changed his Instagram profile picture.

Shortly after the end of the Nations League match, Yamal took to social media platform Instagram to celebrate the win, posting a series of photos from the match and sharing others on his story.

But while he was on Instagram, the Spaniard also took the time to change his profile picture to one of him and younger brother Keyne at the Ballon d'Or ceremony last year.

Although he likely didn't expect to win the award last year, Yamal attended the ceremony to celebrate the success of several of his Spanish teammates, and was later named the winner of the Kopa trophy.

In the Ballon d'Or rankings, the winger finished in eighth and was the only Barcelona player in the top 30.

But in 2025, Yamal is expected to fly up the rankings, with the youngster one of the favourites to receive the award alongside the likes of teammate Raphinha, Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

As it stands, the bookies currently have the Barcelona star at evens to win the 2025 award, behind favourite Dembele who is priced at 8/11 after winning both Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

Thankfully, Yamal won't have to wait long to see if he is honoured with the award this year, with the 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony set to take place on September 22 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
