Barcelona have made a decision on issuing a formal complaint after being left furious with the officials despite a 4-3 El Clasico win over Real Madrid.

2-0 down at home, the Blaugrana turned it around and prevailed in the seven-goal thriller to claim a fourth consecutive Clasico win of the season and move seven points clear at the top of La Liga with three games remaining.

However, the Catalan side were still aggrieved with the refereeing - which saw a fifth goal from Fermin Lopez ruled out for handball in the build-up

The 22-year-old scored a fine solo goal but a VAR review found that there was an accidental handball when Federico Valverde kicked the ball against him down the left.

VAR audio was released by the RFEF but Mundo Deportivo claimed that a comment made during the exchange where an unknown voice said "thank goodness" was edited out of the social media version.

Barcelona intend to take action after Real Madrid refereeing controversy

Barcelona supporters were outraged by the suspicion and it turns out that the club are also unimpressed with the refereeing this season.

According to SPORT, the club are not overlooking the performance of Hernandez Hernandez and believe his showing is a direct result of campaigning from Real.

Unhappy with key decisions such as Aurelien Tchouameni getting away with a handball even with a VAR review, it's said there is "immense anger" within the club.

They will not issue an imminent formal complaint as they want to focus on regaining La Liga as they close in on the title, but Barca believe "the refereeing situation has reached its limit" and feel as though the situation needs to be addressed going into next season.

They have accused rivals Real of reaching "unimaginable limits in intimidating referees" and intend to take action while demanding an explanation from the relevant governing bodies.

Barca need just two points from three games to win La Liga for a 28th time but could even be crowned champions without kicking a ball, if Real fail to beat RCD Mallorca on Wednesday.

They are next in option on Thursday against Catalan neighbours Espanyol and if Real win, Barca will have the chance to secure the title against their local rivals as they did in 2023.
