La Liga president ruthlessly takes aim at Man City over alleged Premier League breaches

La Liga president Javier Tebas has hit out at Manchester City over alleged Premier League breaches of financial rules.

Man City have been charged with 'numerous breaches' of financial rules following a four-year investigation.

The Blues have allegedly breached financial rules over a period of nine seasons. They are alleged to have not provided accurate financial information.

Information includes the club's revenue, which includes sponsorship revenue and operating costs.

Man City intend to 'robustly' defend themselves against the Premier League charges as they released a punchy statement following the news of the alleged breaches.

"Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with," the statement reads.

"The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.

"As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all."

The out-spoken La Liga chief Tebas, who has been vocal about Man City's spending in the past, has aimed a dig at the club over their breaches.

He publicly slammed the English side - as well as Paris Saint-Germain - at an event in 2017 as he referenced that criticism in a tweet directed at the club and the Premier League.

He tweeted: "On 9-5-2017 we denounced in Soccerex Manchester the breaches of the @ManCity and @PSG_espanol of financial fair play."

"It is incredible that the @premierleague took years to find out. We denounce that there are more cases, will it take so many years too."

In 2020, the same year Man City were handed a two-year ban from European club competition, Tebas claimed that a 'majority' of people involved in football were convinced they had breached Financial Fair Play regulations.
