The French forward leapt over the advertising banners and checked on the fan's condition.

Kylian Mbappe was forced to rush over and check on a spectator after his wayward shot struck the poor supporter in the face.

During the warm-up ahead of France's semi-final clash with Morocco at the World Cup, Mbappe was testing out his shooting, peppering goalkeeper Hugo Lloris between the sticks.

But unfortunately for Mbappe, rather uncharacteristically too, one of his efforts sailed very wide of the designated target.

The powerful shot ended up hitting a French fan squarely in the face, leaving him looking a bit dazed and confused.

Clearly seeing what had happened, Mbappe quickly hopped over the advertising banners to assist the supporter and check if he was alright.

The 24-year-old grabbed the man by the arm and appeared to apologise numerous times.

Fox Sports’ Jenny Taft tweeted: “Spoke to the French fan, he suffered a bloody nose and told me if France wins it will all be worth it! (He is also hoping Mbappé will give him his jersey after the match).”

When Goal posted a picture of the incident on social media, fans took to the comments section to react.

One person replied: "Such a great soul."

As one said: "That's love."

While another added: "Everyone so excited to see Mbappe up close while their friend is dying..."

And a fourth asked: "Just how hard did that ball hit him?"

France went on to win the match 2-0, courtesy of goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani.

They now face off against Lionel Messi' Argentina in the World Cup final, looking to become only the third team in history to win the tournament back-to-back after Italy and Brazil.
